Hello, just got back from the Aurora Hamfest in Brighton, CO. Picked up a great deal for $20, a Yaesu FT-208R with the tone board installed and HD battery pack, a handy mic and wall charger. Made the trip all worthwhile to find a nice HT. Entered a nice drawing for a new HF Rig in the Pikes Peak Hamfest coming up in July 2006. 73's Mike, w4mk

Hi Mike. First of all - you have very nice site! My congratulations. I would like to ask you one special question.. You have written that your Kenwood TM V7 can function as a repeater. I hope it is a crossband VHF/UHF repeater, isn\'t it? Now, I would like to know whether there is needed e.g. MA700 dualband ant duplexer or something else for this repeater-function or not. As I now there is no full duplex in this transceiver. I am about to buy this rig and really want to know wheter it has a full duplex and is able to work like a crossband repeater. I will be very happy if you could write me something about it. Please reply directly to my email: om8ark@cnet.sk Many thanks & all the best! 73, Martin OM8ARK.

Hi Mike, I'm getting interested in HAM radio and looking at getting a license. I live in San Jose and I'm concerned about the antenna restrictions. Do you have any guidance or information that can help me in this area? I can't find any clear rules about what is allowable and what isn't. Thanks!!

Came across your site while surfing for SE/30 stuff. Would really love to know more about how you are using the SE/30 for ham radio. Also, admired greatly your simple and clean approach to HTML web design. Really informative site. Well done! Donal, Ireland.

Hi Mike, Just surfed in and noticed you fly with the Yolo County Sheriff's Aero Squadron. I'm interested in flying with an aero squadron and they might fit the bill, can you give me some information about the organization. Is it a volunteer or do yo9u have to be a deputy? How many hours do you need and do they require an instrument rating. I've got a commercial license (got in 1973), but no insturment rating. I've accumulated approximately 500 hours over the years but have not been able to devote the time I wanted to to it due to family and job commitments, but now that I'm retired I would like to get involved in some flying organization that will take a relative low time pilot. Any inof you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

I see someone else had a similar idea as I did. I want to use my brick Yaesu ft-208r for APRS with tiny tracker. Do you know the pinout for the mic? I do not have a manual anymore, but the radio is still in great shape. I actually had 2, but did literally BURN up the finals with max smoke on one!
